Celebrate the opening of the Futures in Space exhibition by getting to know space explorer Sian Proctor, whose Inspiration4 spacesuit is on display.
In 2021, Proctor made history as a crew member on the SpaceX Inspiration4 mission — the first all-civilian mission to orbit the Earth. She spent three days in space and became the first Black woman to serve as mission pilot on a human spaceflight mission. She is an international speaker, science communicator, award-winning educator, and the 2024-25 U.S. Department of State Science Envoy for Space.
Proctor will be in conversation with Space History curator Emily Margolis in the new presentation space within the Futures in Space exhibition. After the talk, Proctor will talk with visitors near the display of her spacesuit.
