Art and science sound like a strange mix but NASA thought the intersection between the two disciplines would provide a visual history bringing the far reaches of the universe to the public. NASA’s art program began in 1962 shortly after the creation of the agency. It has hosted many household names including Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol, and Annie Leibovitz. This What’s New in Aerospace will feature National Air and Space Museum Guggenhiem Fellow Lois Rosson exploring the past and present of NASA’s art program.
