Last month, NASA officially declared the Mars rover Opportunity mission complete after the rover was unresponsive for months following a Mars-wide dust storm. Join us as we say farewell to the rover affectionately called Oppy and celebrate its hugely successful mission.
Opportunity spent 5111 sols (Mars days) on the Red Planet. (For all you Earthlings, that's over 14 years.) In that time it traveled over 28 miles, took thousands of photographs, and inspired many. Mars rover driver and National Air and Space Museum geologist John Grant will discusses his role in driving the rovers, and what's next for exploration of the Red Planet.
