The Moth StorySLAM is an open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a true, personal, 5-minute story on the night’s theme. Sign up for a chance to tell a story or sit back and enjoy the show! The theme of this StorySLAM is Habitats.
Prepare a five-minute story about the places we live and the environments that shape our lives. From urban jungles to cozy cabins, bustling metropolises to a space station orbiting Earth. Times you pulled up roots for a fresh start, adjusted your atmosphere to make it more inviting. Reflect on places that challenged your perspective or moments you imagined life beyond Earth. Reflect on the past or reimagine the future of the spaces where life makes its home.

How it Works
When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in The Moth “hat.” A half hour later, names are picked, and one by one, storytellers take the stage. The ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience. Each StorySLAM generates a StorySLAM winner. After ten SLAMs, the winners face off in a GrandSLAM Championship. Come sign up to tell a story or just enjoy the show!
Seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before the show.
This program is brought to you in collaboration with the National Building Museum and is part of the National Building Museum’s Future Cities Initiative, sponsored by AARP and Rooted Communities. Additional support from Amazon, Room & Board, and Capital One.
