Take a look through our telescopes as you’re exploring DC. Join Museum staff on the sidewalk outside the entrance to the National Mall Building on Independence Avenue and see the wonders of the night sky. Experienced people will help you to observe a variety of things, including planets, stars, and the Moon.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Exploring Space lecture Life Support: What the International Space Station Teaches Us About Our Changing Earth at the Museum. Stargazing is free and open to the public, no tickets required.

The event is weather dependent and may be cancelled due to rain, clouds, and other poor visibility. For last-minute updates, call the Astronomy Education number at 202-633-2517.

Astronomy programming is made possible by a gift from the Thomas W. Haas Foundation in honor of Phoebe Waterman Haas.
