Come take a look through our telescopes while you're out and about in DC, weather permitting. Join us outside the Museum at the corner of Independence Ave and 7th Street SW, near the silver Delta Solar sculpture, and enjoy an evening of stargazing.
Experienced people will help you to use different telescopes to observe a variety of things, including planets, stars, and the Moon. There will also be sky maps available to help identify constellations and planets.
Telescopes will be provided by Smithsonian and pre-approved members of local astronomy clubs. No other personal telescopes are permitted at the event.
This stargazing is part of Sally's Night, the Museum's event for Smithsonian's Solstice Saturday. No tickets or reservations are required to participate in the outdoor stargazing program. However, free timed-entry passes are necessary to enter the Museum and attend the indoor Sally's Night activities.
