About the Film Series

Since the National Air and Space Museum’s building on the National Mall opened in 1976, our guests have been whisked away on adventures in the sky and in space through films in our IMAX theater. To celebrate our 50th anniversary, the Museum and Smithsonian Theaters are hosting the National Air and Space Museum 50th Anniversary Film Series at the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater in the Museum in DC. Taking place on the last Monday of every month throughout 2026, the series will feature specially chosen Hollywood films about aviation and space, including favorites like Wall-E, Sully, and Hidden Figures. Each film will be introduced by members of the Air and Space family, including curators and other special guests.
