    At Hankow, China, while being lowered into the Yangtze River from the British aircraft carrier Hermes, the Lindberghs' Lockheed Sirius capsized, and one of the wings hit a ship cable. The damaged airplane had to be returned to the United States for repairs, ending the Lindberghs’ 1931 survey flight.
