The total lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014 was hidden from most of the East Coast by clouds, although the Moon peeked through a few times. An astronomy educator captured these partial stages of the lunar eclipse from Alexandria, VA with a zoom lens and SLR camera. By the time the Moon entered the deepest part of the Earth's shadow, at 3:06 am EDT, the clouds were too thick for further observations.
Many stunning images of the total lunar eclipse were shared by skywatchers under clearer skies.
