USS Macon

The USS Macon conducts initial operations with its Curtiss F9C-2 Sparrowhawk aircraft over New Egypt, New Jersey, July 7, 1933. The two planes, visible below the airship, were piloted by Lt. D. Ward Harrigan and  Lt. (j.g.) Frederick N. Kivette. (Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives.)
