Gilmore - Hips X-ray

In this detail of Gilmore’s hips, it is possible to see the metal framework securing his legs (threaded rods, plates, and nuts) and tail (two bent rods), and many (many!) nails and wire ties. The hips, shoulders, and behind the skull seem to have been packed with a similar-density material. (Smithsonian Institution)
