British Gloster E.28/39 jet aircraft

The first British jet to fly, the Gloster E.28/39, was powered by a Whittle W.1X turbojet. U.S. Army Air Forces General Henry H. "Hap" Arnold started the XP-59 project in April 1941 after seeing it in flight.
