The GOES-Q Imager was designed to capture imagery of weather and atmospheric phenomena from 22,240 miles above the equator. Designed to fly on an earlier generation of Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES), this imager wasn’t needed because the existing GOES satellites were performing well past their expected lifetimes.
