Map of the thickness of the suspected ice-rich portions of the Medusae Fossae Formation (MFF) deposits. The paleo (pre-MFF deposits) surface was estimated, and 300 m and 600 m of dry cover subtracted to estimate the thickness of the proposed ice-rich layer. The total ice volume is estimated to be ~2.2´105 km3 (600 m removed) to ~4.0´105 km3 (300 m removed), which corresponds to a Global Equivalent Layer of water of ~1.5 to ~2.7 m.
