    Louis Bleriot's daring crossing of the English Channel in 1909 in a Bleriot XI made these single-wing airplanes popular among European aviators. This one was owned by Swiss stunt pilot John Domenjoz. His dizzying feat of "looping the loop" in it 40 consecutive times earned him the nickname "upside-down Domenjoz."
