Challenging learners by asking big questions
The Bezos Learning Center is inspiring learners through online challenges, activities held across the country, and soon, at a word-class education center alongside the Museum in Washington, DC.
The work of the Bezos Learning Center is funded by a gift from Jeff Bezos, the largest philanthropic gift since the Smithsonian’s founding.
The architectural firm Perkins&Will are designing the center. The firm previously worked with the Smithsonian to design the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
The center will join the National Air and Space Museum as one of the iconic buildings along the National Mall. Starting in 2023, the Smithsonian collaborated with community leaders, stakeholders, and the public to develop building plans.
Undergraduate and graduate architecture and design students participated in a nation-wide challenge to help design the center. After a challenge, a team of architectural students was selected to be paid members of the design team.
